Welcome to my blog, I’m Wouter De Coster and I’m a postdoctoral researcher in the Rademakers Lab and a bioinformatics research associate in the Neuromics Support Facility, at the Center for Molecular Neurology, University of Antwerp & VIB. I aim to regularly add a post here concerning an aspect of my work, concerning scripting, data analysis, data visualisation, testing tools and technology.

My research focusses on analysis of sequencing data with the aim of identifying variants relevant to neurodegenerative diseases, and mainly structural variants using long read PromethION sequencing.

I have developed software for visualization and processing of long read sequencing data which can be found on GitHub.

I mainly write in Python and I’m also reasonably proficient in using R. I volunteer and moderate on Biostars. In my free time, I like to play a game of chess on chess.com, feel free to challenge me to a game.

You can also find me on TwitterGitHub, Google Scholar and ORCID.
